Knowledge sharing for  Fast growing seedling production

CNVP Kosovo facilitated an informative exchange visit to the Forestry Research Institute in Sarvar, Hungary in the framework of the Sida-funded SUNREED project, The participants, consisting of two managers from private companies specializing in fruit and decorative tree seedling production, were welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Prof. Attila Borovics, and accompanying field experts.


The primary focus of the visit was to provide insights into cultivating fast-growing tree species, such as poplar, black locust, and willow, which are particularly suitable for Kosovo's ecosystem. During the visit, the participants were exposed to various aspects of modern nursery practices, including Nursery Infrastructure, Seedling Propagation Techniques, Seedling Care and Maintenance, and more.


The visit also presented an opportunity to witness the implementation of innovative agroforestry techniques. Notably, the integration of Medicinal Aromatic Plants within poplar rows was showcased, emphasizing how such practices can enhance soil fertility, biodiversity, and overall farm productivity. Through in-depth discussions and practical demonstrations, attendees explored potential partnership opportunities, highlighting the vital role of collaboration in fostering sustainable forestry practices.


This visit served as a platform for the exchange of ideas, exploration of collaborative opportunities, and laying the groundwork for future endeavors. With a shared vision of sustainable forestry practices and environmental conservation, the visit emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving positive change.
