CNVP has been supporting Diber municipality since it was established after the territorial reform in 2015. The relationship between the Mayor, the municipality and CNVP has led to concrete actions to ensure sustainable management of natural resources in the municipality.

Following on from CNVP Albania’s attendance at the national fair organized by the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture on 29 November 2017 (where CNVP was invited to be part of the municipality stand), current CNVP activities in Diber municipality include providing support for:

  1. the process of registration of forests and pastures as properties of the municipality, and in particular participatory mapping according to traditional users at village level which is crucial for economic development and sustainability of the transfer process;
  2. technical staff of the municipality for sustainable public forest and pasture management through using best practices;
  3. forest product value chains and related income generation through planting improved walnut varieties and medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs);
  4. producer groups and the Nut Club, helping them to present their products in the traditional fair organized in Peshkopi;
  5. the local Mini-fair organized in Melan in March 2018; and
  6. the tourism sector, helping it to become more competitive and offer more opportunities for developing traditional products and services.
