On 10 and 11 June 2021, CNVP held Regional Workshop as part of the project “Regional action to fight against crime and corruption in forestry”.

The workshop was attended by representatives of the institutions in charge of forest management and protection, experts in the field, as well as non-governmental organizations and activists working in the field of environmental protection.

Some of the conclusions from the workshop, were as follows:

-         The concept of good forest governance is a process where capacity building is needed, establishing an institutional framework between all stakeholders, based on constant communication in order to achieve sustainable forest management.

-         It is important to strengthen channels for reporting illegal corruption so that anyone who decides to report illegal activity or corruption can do so without fear of repercussions.

-         The police, prosecutors, judiciary, due to the overcrowding of some other cases, do not deal effectively with all those cases that arise and are related to corruption in the forestry.

CNVP, as an organization that is managing and leading the implementation of the project, together with the project partners FEA and Greenhome will continue to work intensively on the implementation of project activities, as well as achieving better forest management in the region, and reducing crime and corruption rates in forestry.
