Three regional training events organized by CNVP Kosovo

During November and December 2019, CNVP Kosovo organized three regional training events on climate change and biodiversity - one of the greatest environmental challenges brought by the stakeholders. 

The main objectives were: 

1) sharing information’s to the relevant stakeholders on the role and importance of climate change and biodiversity;

2) Kosovo legal and policy documents and international conventions related to climate change and biodiversity ;

3) best practices for the integration of climate change into forestry through the Sida implemented project activities as presented during the workshops.

Participants through the working groups had a chance to present their views and actions at the local level and steps to be taken for biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation. This includes education, awareness-raising and institutional capacity, increased afforestation, fire protection and possibilities for use of biomass for heating as well as implementation of sustainable forest management for reducing illegal logging. 

The training events were attended by different members of APFO-s from the region of Peja, Ferizaj, and Prizren, NAPFO and municipality representatives from energy, forestry and environment sectors, including more than 100 participants.

This activity is supported by the Sida-funded project being implemented by CNVP Kosovo - Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry.
