The CNVP North Macedonia team has successfully implemented the third workshop within the framework of the 4Returns approach, marking an important milestone in the process of joint planning and vision-building for the sustainable development of the Shar Mountain micro-region.

At the beginning of the workshop, participants were introduced to the results and conclusions of the first and second workshops. A comprehensive analysis of the current situation in the micro-region was presented, taking into account environmental, social, and economic aspects. Special emphasis was placed on the challenges faced by the local population, such as the degradation of natural resources, limited economic opportunities, and demographic changes, as well as on the potentials and strengths of the region that serve as a foundation for its future development.

Following this, the proposed initiatives resulting from the second workshop were presented, along with their potential implementation sites. The proposals included activities aimed at restoring and conserving natural resources, improving living conditions for the local population, and creating opportunities for sustainable economic development.

Through constructive discussion, participants analysed the proposed initiatives and ranked them according to their importance, impact, and feasibility for successful implementation. This process enabled the identification of priority activities with the greatest potential to contribute to the long-term development and resilience of the region.

In the final part of the workshop, participants discussed the shared vision for the future of the region. They exchanged ideas and expectations about how they envision the region in the coming years, highlighting the need for balanced development that ensures the protection of natural resources, improved quality of life, and new economic opportunities for local communities.

This workshop provided a comprehensive and integrated understanding of the conditions, needs, and potentials of the micro-region. The collected information and recommendations will serve as a solid foundation for defining future activities and the strategic direction of action, in line with the principles of the 4Returns approach and the vision for sustainable landscape management.

This workshop was held within the framework of the project “Protecting Unique Landscapes & Species in Albania and North Macedonia,” implemented by CNVP North Macedonia and CNVP Albania, with financial support from Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust - PONT.
