Empowering Rural Women: New Raspberry Plantation in Prespa, North Macedonia
On March 26, 2026, in the picturesque village of Carev Dvor – Resen, a raspberry planting initiative took place, implemented by CNVP North Macedonia in cooperation with members of the Association “Rural Women of Prespa.” The activity was carried out within the project “Capacity Building Program for Sustainable Tourism with a Focus on Non-Timber Forest Products.”
During the activity, 600 “Vilamed” raspberry seedlings, prized for their quality and flavor, were planted, creating new opportunities for income in the region.
Through this initiative, Rural Women of Prespa confidently expand their activities, creating authentic products and flavors inspired by local tradition and natural resources. The new plantation features a modern drip irrigation system with built-in emitters, along with poles, wires, and protective nets. This infrastructure ensures optimal growing conditions, higher quality, and maximum yield from this valuable fruit. This is not just a plantation – it is an investment in a sustainable future, one that strengthens the community and creates a new success story from the heart of Prespa.
The activity is part of the #EUforPrespa Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in partnership with CNVP North Macedonia.
