Bringing together private forest owners, forest associations, and development partners, a workshop on Circular Economy opened up discussions on how to turn resources into opportunities and waste into value.

The workshop “Circular Economy: Examples and Models in the Forestry Sector”, organized by CNVP Kosovo within the SUNREED project and funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Prishtina (Sida), aimed to increase the understanding and capacities of the stakeholders about the concept of circular concept and the value chain of forest-based products.

During the event, participants assessed how applying circular principles in the forestry sector can generate economic growth, social well-being, and environmental benefits for both communities and businesses.

CNVP presented its contributions and future plans for promoting circular practices in forestry, and was followed by a presentation on circular economy models and practical examples from the sector.

In group discussions, participants identified potential actions and activities that could be implemented to apply circular economy principles within Kosovo’s forestry sector - including more sustainable use of forest resources, improved wood processing practices, and waste reduction initiatives.

The recommended activities include continuing the work of the SUNREED project and maintaining support for Private Forest Owners’ Associations (SHPPPs) to further strengthen their capacities, particularly in implementing circular economy approaches. Support should also extend to businesses across the production value chain to encourage the adoption of circular practices.

This workshop is another important step by CNVP toward building a successful circular forestry economy in Kosovo.
