Regional workshops were recently held to discuss how gender issues can be better integrated into climate change and environmental management. The events focused on the importance of increasing women’s participation in forestry, a sector that is still mostly male.

During the workshops, Mensura Nuhodzic Ferin from CNVP Office in Montenegro, presented the concept of Integrated Forest Management and explained why it is important to involve women at every step. She underlined that empowering women and raising awareness in local communities will help strengthen environmental protection and reduce the effects of climate change.

Zehra Demic, Head of Forestry and Forest Protection, joined as a guest lecturer. She presented practical methods for forest protection and sustainable cultivation. Demic also stressed that involving more women in forestry is essential for stronger environmental management and sustainable use of natural resources.

Both speakers emphasized that women’s involvement is not only a matter of equality but also a way to achieve better results in protecting forests and fighting climate change.

These workshops are part of the Integrated Forest Management (IFM) project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), initiated by ICEP, and implemented by CNVP Foundation.
