We were honored to welcome Dr. Eckart Senitza, Vice President of ProSilva, to our CNVP Kosovo office in Prishtina. As an associate member of ProSilva, this visit was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our collaboration and exchange ideas on sustainable forestry.

ProSilva, a pan-European association founded in 1989, promotes “close-to-nature forest management” as an alternative to industrial forestry. Today, it brings together over 30 national and regional organizations across Europe, all committed to sustainable, ecologically sound, and socially responsible forest use.

The meeting focused on sharing knowledge and experiences in sustainable forestry while reinforcing networking between CNVP and ProSilva. Discussions emphasized the importance of building the capacity of forestry-related staff and applying “close-to-nature forest management” principles as a pathway to healthier, more resilient forests in Kosovo and the wider region.

Following the office meeting, a joint field visit was organized to observe the on-the-ground implementation of the SUNREED project, specifically forest management practices aligned with ProSilva’s philosophy. The visit showcased how close-to-nature forestry principles are being applied in Kosovo, ensuring both ecological sustainability and long-term socio-economic benefits.

This visit represents another important step in CNVP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships and promote sustainable forest management across the Western Balkans.
