Empowering Forestry Trainers
Last week, CNVP Kosovo organized a two-day professional training as part of the Integrated Forest Management (IFM) along the Transboundary Drin River Basin project, funded by the ADC (Austrian Development Cooperation) and ICEP, with support from Lenzing AG.
The training focused on strengthening the skills of future trainers in the forestry sector and brought together representatives from the Kosovo Forest Agency, regional forest directorates in Prizren and Peja, municipal institutions, National Association of Private Forest Owners (NAPFO), local Associations of Private Forest Owners (APFOs), NGOs, and students from the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences in Prizren.
Participants learned innovative approaches to afforestation using local seeds, seedling transportation and care, as well as workplace safety with an emphasis on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The sessions were led by forestry experts and included both theoretical and hands-on learning through group work, discussions, and field-based activities.
This training is an important step toward building a network of qualified trainers who will help advance sustainable and integrated forest management practices across Kosovo.
