The Association for the Use of Natural Resources “Gjelberimi” has started a new environmental project in the area of Balgjaj Mountain, with the support of CNVP and PONT. This project aims to protect nature and improve how natural resources are managed in this green corridor, located in the municipality of Klos.

The goal of the project is to identify environmental problems, also known as "hotspots," and to find the best ways to protect these areas. The team will use modern tools like GIS (Geographic Information System) to create detailed maps of these problem areas. Based on this information, they will propose practical solutions to be included in the local government's work plans.

The project will first focus on identifying places where nature is in danger. These could be areas damaged by erosion, pollution from mining, or places that are important for wild animals and plants. After finding these areas, the team will visit them, study their current condition, and create a clear map that shows where help is needed.

Next, the team will suggest actions to solve the problems. These actions will focus on protecting the environment and promoting eco-friendly tourism. The community will also be invited to take part in this process by sharing their ideas and helping to protect these natural areas.

At the end of the project, there will be a full list and map of the environmental hotspots in the Balgjaj corridor. This will help local authorities and the community better understand which areas need special care. The project will also collect data to see how these hotspots are changing over time, whether they are improving or getting worse, and what is causing these changes.

By working together with local people and different organizations, “Gjelberimi” aims to create a strong and long-lasting plan to protect nature in Balgjaj Mountain. This will not only help the environment but also support sustainable development in the region.

This project is funded by Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust - PONT and implemented by CNVP Albania.
