Strengthening Kosovo’s MAP Sector – Introducing New Techniques to Meet EU Market Requirements

Last week, CNVP Kosovo, Agroprodukt, and Organika association signed a Partnership Agreement to strengthen the sector of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) in Kosovo.
The initiative is supported by the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina (Sida) through the SUNREED project (Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development), implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
We are excited to collaborate with Agroprodukt, a leading MAPs exporter and seedling producer, and with our partner Organika association, which provides advisory services and promotes sustainable practices in Kosovo’s MAP and NWFP sectors.
As part of this initiative, the following actions will be rolled out:
- 450,000 high-quality MAP seedlings, using a pneumatic sowing machine, will be distributed free of charge to selected farmers during 2025.
- Innovative techniques and organic input will be introduced to suppress weeds, reduce toxin risks, and improve water and nutrient use—ensuring compliance with EU standards.
- Six (6) demonstration plots will be setup across three (3) hectares
- Contract farming and knowledge transfer to the wider farming community
This collaboration is important for Kosovo’s sustainable production in agriculture, export capacity and economic opportunities for its rural communities.
