With the planting of 1,000 mountain tea seedlings on the plantation in Krani, the Association of Rural Women from Prespa has officially launched this year’s cultivation season. Throughout the year, a total of 13,500 seedlings are expected to be planted across six plots in the Prespa Region, North Macedonia.

The focus of the Rural Women of Prespa is not only on production, but also on bringing Prespa-cultivated mountain tea closer to the consumer.

The mountain tea cultivation initiative began in 2020, when the Association planted 4,000 seedlings on a 1,000 m² plot. From the very beginning, their successful story was recognized and supported by CNVP and PONT. Since last year, through CNVP, they have also received support from UNDP, further strengthening this important initiative.

The project "Rural Women for Sustainable Development of Prespa" is funded by the CNVP and Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust - PONT.

The activity is part of the EU for Prespa Programme, financed by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP in partnership with CNVP.
