Innovative Approaches in Afforestation and Land Rehabilitation in Dragash

As part of the Integrated Forest Management along the Drin River Basin project, the rehabilitation of degraded land in the village of Vranisht, Municipality of Dragash in Kosovo, has been successfully completed using a diverse set of afforestation techniques.
To support this initiative, a hands-on field training was organized on Wednesday, focusing on:
- Techniques for land rehabilitation and forest area expansion through afforestation
- Traditional and innovative planting methods; including traditional planting, planting with machine, planting with land preparation, and the use of shelter tubes
Participants included representatives from the Kosovo Forestry Agency (KFA), the Directorate for Forest Management, the Regional Directorate of KFA in Prizren, the Municipality of Dragash, and the implementing company Minatori.
This training aimed to raise awareness on the importance of effective and innovative afforestation and land rehabilitation practices, while promoting active involvement from a wide range of stakeholders.
This activity is part of the Integrated Forest Management (IFM) Project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency and implemented by ICEP - weltweit mehr unternehmen in partnership with CNVP.
Together, we are working towards a sustainable and balanced approach to forest conservation, combining traditional and modern tecniques to expand forest cover and protect our natural resources.
