On 24 July 2018, CNVP Albania supported members of a producer group in Qukes Administrative Unit to organise a local product fair, at which Berzeshte village celebrated its 75th anniversary of independence. Members of the producer groups displayed honey from flowers and chestnuts, cultivated tea, local medicinal plants, fruits, drinks, and local food specialities. More than 300 people attended the fair.

CNVP Albania’s Country Director briefed the mayor of Perrenjas municipality about CNVP’s work to support producer groups, especially helping women to work together, strengthen their organizations’ technical capacities, increase production, and generate more family income in rural areas where employment opportunities are scarce. The mayor expressed her willingness to collaborate further with CNVP, in order to create an enabling environment for producer groups as a way of tackling unemployment, as well as promoting women’s economic and social empowerment in rural areas.

The activity was organised through the Sida-funded project Forests for Local Economic Development that is being implemented by CNVP Albania.
