CNVP is increasingly active in the Balkan region where its significant experience of dealing with different governance structures adds value to donors’ increased support for regional cooperation.

Based on experience gained during the May 2004 EU enlargement process, there is likely to be increased regional cooperation as the Balkan countries move closer to EU membership. This will include sharing country-specific experiences related to different aspects of approximating the acquis communautaire, including both the transposition of legislation and the means for implementing it. This will apply particularly to Chapters 11, 12, 13 and 27.

CNVP has been meeting potential partners in each of the six countries to identify with them how CNVP can contribute to increased regional cooperation, particularly related to the sustainable management of natural resources and agri-rural economic development. As an example, CNVP Macedonia visited Serbia during 12-14 June 2018 to meet with representatives of the Centre for Migration Studies, the Organisation for Respect and Care of Animals, Business Innovation Programme Support, the Institute for Nature Conservation (Belgrade and Novi Sad), and DELI Business Incubator.

In addition, CNVP is looking to cooperate with similar partners in Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina (as well as Turkey) on in-country, cross-border and regional projects that support the current EU accession process in the Balkans
