In 6 June 2019, CNVP Kosovo cooperated with the National Association of Private Forest Owners (NAPFO) to support the establishment of a Woman and Youth Producer Group (WYPG) in Kamenica Municipality. The group was identified by the local Association of Private Forest Owners, and deals with non-timber forest products (NTFPs), including the cultivation and harvesting of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs).

A priority of the WYPG will be to establish a business relationship with Agroproduct in Istok. This will supply the group with certified seedlings, and start building the capacity of farmers concerning the organic production of NTFPs and MAPs.

CNVP Kosovo will continue to provide support to the group on networking, prior to delivery of the seedlings. Training will be given on soil preparation, treatment of seedlings before, during and after planting, as well as harvesting methods and post-harvest care. This will lead to increased income and employment opportunities in rural areas, as well as the improved management of natural resources.

The event was supported through the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralised Forests that is being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
